Running Windows Update for your Windows 7 computer came up with an error code 80072EE2. A similar result as shown here.
It took a while for me to find the culprit setting in Windows 7 computer. It is the Windows Update server that it's trying to get updates. The Windows Update server source is pointing to the wrong server or website URL address.
Here's how to fix 80072EE2 error.
Using REGEDIT go to HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Policies/Microsoft/WindowsUpdate, then remove the Windows Update Server entry.
Reboot your computer.
Run Windows Update and this should fix your 80072EE2 error code.
You can also go to Microsoft Knowledge Base 971058 where it will show you how to reset Windows Update components.
